Produced in honour of the Sexual Offences Act 1967, this collection celebrates the passing of legislation that decriminalised homosexual acts in private for men aged 21 years and above in England and Wales.
The potters’ Loving Cup inspires this collection. The cup is reproduced in the popular style known as Jasperware, which has a solid coloured base, often blue, with white bas-relief figures or medallions, known as sprigging. Jasperware has a special place in the visual culture of England, recognised as being simultaneously regal and kitsch.
